Other uses of the term
In World War II, the German SS formed an irregular
network of Partisan-like units known as Operation
Werwolf to resist the occupation of allied forces.

These
units were under the leadership of the SS and were
comprised of members of that group, along with members
of the Heer and Hitler Youth.
Their campaign of
resistance was, however, an almost complete fiasco,
especially following their disownment by Hitler's
successor, Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz.
